Rocky Horror Picture Show

An adaptation of a British play of the same name, Rocky Horror was virtually totally ignored upon initial release until it slowly gained notoriety as a midnight movie. It's wild sci-fi plot served as both a tribute to and a parody of drive-in culture, but took it three steps forward with an edgy musical plot covering anything from bizarre sexual deviance to frankenstein monsters, and everything in-between. Though an aquired taste, it found it's niche, and is now the longest-running theatrical film in history, with theater groups still flocking to each midnight showing dressed in full costumes in tribute to one-of-a-kind creative insanity.
